Phoenix's Diana Taurasi teamed with current Suns All-Star forward Shawn Marion and former Suns All-Star forward Dan Majerle to win the RadioShack Shooting Stars competition on Saturday. On Friday, Taurasi participated in The McDonald’s NBA All-Star Celebrity Game presented by Sprite as part of NBA All-Star 2005 in Denver.

Diana Taurasi and actor Jeffrey Donovan take a break from filming Believe in Me on location in Clovis, New Mexico. Taurasi cameos as a basketball coach in the film, expected to be released in 2005.
Mercury guard Diana Taurasi's Rookie-of-the-Year season will be recognized when the Suns host the Lakers on Nov. 19 at America West Arena.


Diana Taurasi Named to All-WNBA First Team
The WNBA announced today that Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi has been named to the All-WNBA First Team, presented by Bud Light. The No. 1 pick of the Mercury in the 2004 WNBA Draft, Taurasi led the Mercury in scoring and was fourth overall in the WNBA, posting an average of 17.0 points per game. In her debut season, Taurasi helped turn the Mercury from a league worst 8-26 in 2003 to a 17-17 record in 2004. (Go to the Articles page for the rest of the story!!)

Taurasi Named Rookie of the Year!!!!!!!!!!
Mercury guard Diana Taurasi capped off a whirlwind year by being introduced as the WNBA Rookie-of-the-Year on Monday in New York. Selected by Phoenix with the first overall pick in the 2004 WNBA Draft weeks after capturing her third NCAA title with Connecticut, Taurasi led all rookies in scoring and led the Mercury to a nine-game improvement over last season's win total. Even though her arrival didn't ensure a postseason berth for the Mercury, Diana Taurasi proved she was the real deal in her first WNBA season. The UConn alum finished her first pro season ranked third in the league in total points and helped Phoenix reach the .500 mark for the first time since the 2000 season. Anna DeForge and Plenette Pierson posted 24 points apiece Sunday as Phoenix beat Houston 78-64 in the season finale at America West Arena. Diana Taurasi concluded a fantastic rookie campaign with 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists. (Check game report page for more.)

The Mercury saw their 13-point second-half lead evaporate Friday night in a tough-to-take 74-67 home loss to Washington. Diana Taurasi scored 25 points for Phoenix, who can still qualify for the postseason with a win Sunday coupled with Sacramento losses Saturday and Sunday. Mercury rookie Diana Taurasi played a game of H.O.R.S.E with Breast Health Auction winner Tiana Hammer, who flew all the way from Wisconsin to play with her idol.
Diana Taurasi poured in 20 points, but the Mercury fell to the Storm 73-58 Wednesday night in Seattle. Nikki McCray added 10 points for Phoenix, which returns home Friday to face Washington.

Mercury Rout First-Place Sparks

Diana Taurasi scored 13 of her game-high 21 points in the first half as Phoenix cruised to a 72-58 home win Wednesday (Sept.8,2004) over Western Conference leader Los Angeles. Anna DeForge and Penny Taylor popped in 17 each for the Mercury, who are now tied with Minnesota for third place in the West.
